December is upon us, and that means you can open the next door on your Bundesliga Advent Calendar!
It's the most wonderful time of the year, of course, so each day we'll help you get in the mood for the big day on 25 December with a video featuring a fantastic Bundesliga record.
Today, we celebrate one of the Bundesliga's spot-kick legends. In a career that saw him make 387 Bundesliga appearances for Hamburger SV, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Bayern München, Hans-Jörg Butt converted 26 penalties ... and saved 17 himself!
Confused? Well you see, Butt was a goalkeeper by trade, but his prowess from 12 yards made him first-choice penalty-taker for the sides he represented. In fact, in the 1999/2000 season, Butt finished as Hamburg's top scorer. It goes without saying that he is the highest-scoring custodian in Bundesliga history.
