Thomas Müller has announced that he will assist injured club captain Manuel Neuer in lifting the Bundesliga trophy when Bayern Munich receive the Meisterschale on Saturday at home to VfB Stuttgart.

“We’ll be going for the Neuer-Müller double team,” the Germany forward declared at the unveiling of Bayern’s new kit for the 2018/19 season.

Goalkeeper Neuer was named club captain at the start of the 2017/18 campaign following the retirement of Philipp Lahm, but the four-time World’s Best Goalkeeper has only featured three times in the league this season due to a broken foot.

In his absence, Munich-native Müller has led the team out on the pitch as they stormed to a sixth straight title thanks to the guidance of returning coach Jupp Heynckes, who took over with the club five points adrift of Borussia Dortmund after eight matches.

This weekend will mark the first time since 2012 that the Bundesliga Meisterschale has not been handed over to Lahm at the end of a season.
