Stuttgart - VfB Stuttgart have signed Australia international Robbie Kruse on loan from Bayer 04 Leverkusen for the duration of the 2015/16 season, with the Swabian club also possessing an option to buy the attacker at the end of that period.

'A new challenge'

The 26-year-old will, who will wear the number 9 shirt, joins compatriot Mitch Langerak at the club after the goalkeeper switched from Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer.

"I'm looking forward to the new challenge at Stuttgart and would like to play my part in helping the club improve in the coming weeks and months," Kruse told the official Stuttgart website after signing on.

Kruse swapped Fortuna Düsseldorf 95 for Leverkusen in July 2013 but has since been plagued by injuries. He has made 51 Bundesliga appearance so far, scoring six goals.

"Robbie Kruse knows the Bundesliga very well," said sporting director Robin Dutt. "He took part in Leverkusen's entire pre-season preparations and has played a bit already this term. His speed and agility will be great assets for our game."
