Wolfsburg have extended the contract of Belgian goalkeeper Koen Casteels, handing him a new four-year deal. The Wolves have also given Casteels the number one shirt, replacing his previous number of 28.
Since joining the club from Hoffenheim in January 2015, Casteels has quickly established himself as the preferred starting choice at Wolfsburg. Having made 20 starts in the Bundesliga last season, collecting eight clean sheets, his number one status was only going to become more concrete.

"I feel really good with VfL, and want to achieve a lot of things with Wolfsburg in the coming seasons," Casteels said.
"After the summer break, however, for us, the first thing to do is to reorient ourselves as a team and to stabilise our sporting ambitions. Such a season as the one just gone can no longer exist. We are all guilty."
Casteels has made 41 appearances since joining the Wolves during the two-and-a-half seasons with his club.
