Germany youngster Julian Brandt wants to stay at Bayer Leverkusen

Julian Brandt will stay at Bayer Leverkusen for at least another season, according to the player's father and agent.

Twenty-one-year-old attacking midfielder Brandt, who has reportedly been attracting interest from all manner of European clubs following some eye-catching displays in the Bundesliga and DFB Cup, will be out of contract in summer 2019.

"Julian's objective is to play in Europe with Leverkusen next season," Jürgen Brandt told German sports daily SPORT BILD. "He'll definitely be here until 2019. Julian feels he has unfinished business at Leverkusen."

Indeed, the Bayer hierarchy are optimistic Brandt will remain with Die Werkself beyond the terms of his current deal, and are set to begin talks with the Germany international over his future next month. "We think that there's every chance he'll extend," said Leverkusen general manager Jonas Boldt.

Brandt has scored five goals and produced six assists so far this season, with Leverkusen currently occupying second place in the Bundesliga standings and through to the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup. He joined the Rhineland club from the Wolfsburg Under-19s in January 2014.
