Köln - 1. FC Köln have completed the signing of versatile midfielder Milos Jojic from Borussia Dortmund.

'Proven ability'

The 23-year-old Serbian international, who has been given the squad number 8, has signed a four-year deal with the Rhinelanders valid until June 2019.

“Milos Jojic is a talented player that has experience of international football despite his young age,” said Köln’s sporting director Jörg Schmadtke. “He can play in various positions and is a good set-piece taker. Furthermore, he knows the Bundesliga and has already proven his abilities in this league.”

Jojic arrived in the German top flight in January 2014 when he was signed by Jürgen Klopp for Dortmund. He hit the ground running at the Signal Iduna Park, scoring on his debut against Eintracht Frankfurt and finishing the season with four goals in just ten league appearances, as well as featuring five times in the UEFA Champions League. He found first-team football harder to come by in 2014/15, however, and has now opted to pursue a new challenge at the RheinEnergieStadion.

Santana deal off

Meanwhile, Schmadtke also confirmed that Köln will not be signing centre-back Felipe Santana from FC Schalke 04 after a medical examination revealed the Brazilian to be suffering from a calf injury.
