Leverkusen - Bayer 04 Leverkusen have bolstered their ranks by signing striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez from Manchester United FC.

'I want to achieve things here'

The 27-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Real Madrid CF, agreed a permanent three-year contract with the UEFA Champions League participants, tying him to Bayer until 30 June 2018.

“I already know two of Europe’s three big leagues having played in the Premier League and the Primera Division in Spain,” Hernandez told the official Leverkusen website. “Now I’m looking forward to experiencing the Bundesliga. I’ve heard a lot about the fantastic stadiums in Germany and the unique fans here. The Bundesliga is an extremely attacking league and it’s very attractive for me. It’s wonderful to now play for a club like Leverkusen, who I obviously know from the Champions League. Bayer represent a great chance for me and here I can and want to achieve great things.”

Hernandez, who will wear the number 7 shirt at Leverkusen, moved to Manchester United from Chivas Guadalajara in 2010, and made 157 competitive appearances for the record English champions, scoring 59 goals and providing 20 assists. He has also netted 40 goals in 74 international outings for Mexico.
