Hoffenheim have further bolstered their squad for next season with the signing of Borussia Mönchengladbach winger Vincenzo Grifo.

“You don’t need to say much about the technical quality, tactical wit and outstanding shotpower Vince has,” he enthused. “As a versatile attacking player who can make and take goals, he will bring important characteristics to our squad.”

Grifo, who exploded onto the scene with Freiburg, joined Gladbach last summer after plundering 20 goals in 55 games for the Black Forest club. Injuries restricted the former Italy youth international to just 17 outings at the Borussia Park, but TSG director of football Alexander Rosen is confident Grifo can rediscover the form of old.

Grifo has signed a contract which runs until June 2022, and he can’t wait to get started for Julian Nagelsmann’s team as they look to make their first assault on the UEFA Champions League.

“It feels a bit like coming home,” he said. “I still remember my first Bundesliga match in the Rhein-Neckar-Arena, and I can hardly describe how much I'm burning to get back in action here. We have an exciting year ahead with a special challenge.”

Grifo could feature in the pre-season friendly against Unterhaching as soon as Friday, with English Championship side Queen’s Park Rangers at the end of the month also a possibility for the Germany-born winger.
