Back on their preferred home turf, Hertha Berlin were too good for FC Augsburg, who now have the real risk of relegation hanging over them.
Hertha Berlin 2-0 Augsburg
Goals: 1-0 Brooks (12'), 2-0 Stocker (37')
It wasn’t long until the home side took the lead when John Brooks headed home Valentin Stocker’s mishit shot following a corner after just 12 minutes. Shortly after, captain Vedad Ibisevic came close to doubling the home side’s advantage after a one-two with Salomon Kalou but was denied by Marwin Hitz. At the other end, Rune Jarstein was barely called into action in the Hertha goal. Berlin did finally double their lead before the break when Kalou squared the ball to Stocker to tap in after excellent hold-up play by Ibisevic.
