Eintracht Frankfurt defender Timothy Chandler has undergone successful surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee, the club have confirmed.

The 27-year-old landed awkwardly off the ball in the 36th minute of Frankfurt's thrilling 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 9, before being helped from the field of play by two members of Eintracht's medical team.

The USA international is expected to be out of action for up to two months.

Chandler's absence will come as a big blow to Frankfurt, the former Nuremberg man having started all nine of the Eagles' Bundesliga assignments so far this season.
