Borussia Dortmund attacker Christian Pulisic's technique may have been momentarily off when he looked to send the ball into the Stuttgart danger-zone during the teams' Matchday 29 meeting at the Westfalenstadion, but the USA magician had no regrets when his skewed cross found its way into the net for his fourth goal of the campaign.

"I was looking for the back post, just for a cross. It came off my foot a little wrong but it wasn't so wrong in the end. It was a bit lucky but I'm happy it went in!" the Hershey-born star explained of BVB's opener in Sunday's 3-0 victory. "When I saw it go in I just couldn't really believe it. I couldn't really celebrate; I didn't know what to do!"

Pulisic’s goal was followed by further strikes by Michy Batshuayi and Maximilian Philipp as Die Schwarzgelben bounced back from last weekend’s heavy Klassiker loss to consolidate their position in third-place in the Bundesliga standings.

The USMNT international has now registered nine goals in 65 Bundesliga appearances for the North Rhine-Westphalia giants and created a new personal best for a single season, his fourth goal of the campaign eclipsing the three he managed last season and his two goals in 2015/16.

"The [first] goal gave us a lot more confidence and we were playing a lot more after that," Pulisic explained. "Things were much more free flowing for us, we had more control of the game in the second half. It was difficult for us at the beginning, they didn't make it easier for us, [but] goals change games!," he continued.

"We definitely needed a result after last weekend so this [win] was really important. We came out with a dominant performance and we're feeling really good going into the derby." Dortmund travel to Schalke next Sunday for what is set up to be a classic Revierderby.
