Leverkusen - Bayer 04 Leverkusen have completed the signing of centre-back Kyriakos Papadopoulos on a permanent deal from Bundesliga rivals FC Schalke 04.

'They put their trust in me'

The 23-year-old was on loan at the Werkself from the Royal Blues last season, but has now completed a transfer after signing a contract valid until 30 June 2020.

"I'm really happy it's worked out," said the defender. "Despite having two bad shoulder injuries last season I had a fantastic time in Leverkusen. The club put their trust in me and made a lot of effort to sign me, which I'm very grateful for. I'm looking forward to my future in this great team which can still achieve so much."

In 2014/15 Papadopoulos made 14 appearances for Leverkusen, and was in the starting XI nine times. He scored two goals, provided one assist and won 62 per cent of all his challenges.
