Cologne - FC Bayern München defender Dante has already been back home in Brazil for the past ten days, enjoying a well-earned break following another successful season with the champions.

The 31-year-old took the time to tell bundesliga.com his thoughts on the campaign just ended, declaring himself happy both with his own and his team's term, while stating his desire to challenge for titles with Bayern again in the coming season.

bundesliga.com Dante, looking back on 2014/15, how would you rate the season?

Dante: We've won a third straight Bundesliga title with Bayern and were dominant with a comfortable lead for the third time in a row. We're very proud of that because winning the Bundesliga is anything but easy, and it's much harder than many people might think. Furthermore, we reached the semi-finals in both the Champions League and the DFB Cup. It's been a pretty good season. I'm happy with it.

bundesliga.com Do you not think you could have got a bit more out of the cup competitions?

Dante: We had a big chance in the semi-final of the DFB Cup against Borussia Dortmund when we were 1-0 up and we really should have killed them off, so if you think about that then yes, there was definitely more in it for us. In the Champions League, we came up against an amazing Barcelona side who are playing some fantastic football right now. Nevertheless, we went out with our heads held high because we never gave up and still scored three goals in the return leg, which not many sides have managed against Barcelona lately. And we were without some key players like Arjen [Robben], Franck [Ribery], Holger [Badstuber] and David [Alaba] too, which was a shame.

bundesliga.com How would you sum up your own season?

Dante: I wasn't involved in every game from the start, but I can still be happy with the amount of match time I got. The coach knows that he can rely on me at any time, when he needs me. There's such competition for places in every position at FC Bayern, but considering we have a game pretty much every three days, everybody's going to be needed at some stage. Of course you want to be playing every game, but that's impossible. So I can be happy with this too.

bundesliga.com Even if Pep Guardiola seemed to prefer Jerome Boateng and Medhi Benatia in your position?

Dante: You've got to respect the coach's decision and I always do that. I made a few mistakes, like in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against FC Porto for example. After a mistake like that, you'd appreciate the chance to put things right immediately, but that was not always the case because the coach then chose somebody else. I found myself on the bench for the return leg, but I was delighted for Jerome and Xabi [Alonso] because they were both criticised heavily in Porto, yet they gave the perfect answer a week later.

bundesliga.com So is this cameraderie the biggest strength of this team?

Dante: Absolutely. Although we've got a big squad and strong competition, we're all pulling in the same direction and there's a great atmosphere in the dressing room.

bundesliga.com You've got a contract until June 2017 - where do you see your future?

Dante: With FC Bayern. I've been playing here for three years now and I know every single day how fortunate I am to be able to play for such a big club. I enjoy every day here. Just think, I've been in at least the semi-final of the Champions League and the DFB Cup in each of these three years, and won the Bundesliga each time. It can hardly get any better than that. I'll always give everything for this club.
