Augsburg - UEFA Europa League participants FC Augsburg were the second club to stage their Bundesliga media day ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
The event, used to present new signings, take official photographs and produce media content for use throughout the season, took place at the club's WWK Arena on Wednesday. Oh, and the players had a go at the Corner Kings challenge, too. bundesliga.com was on hand to bring you some of the highlights from an entertaining event in southern Germany, while you can also find a video review of the day over here.
Augsburg media day: best bits
1. European excitement
After a phenomenal 2014/15 campaign in which die Fuggerstädter finished fifth, the excitement of this season's Europa League adventure was one of the main talking points at the WWK Arena. Tobias Werner explained that he "was excited to see what the draw for the group stage brings", while Halil Altintop, one of FCA's few players with experience on the continental stage, was equally eager to get going. "For plenty here, the Europa League is a new experience," he said. "We're looking forward to playing against teams you usually only see on TV."
The Augsburg players were equally excited about the 'Corner Kings' challenge, which will be exclusively released on 4 August on the Bundesliga's official YouTube channel. The aim is to score as many times into an open goal from the corner quadrant as possible. The players are not only doing their day job here though: they also form part of the camera crew and have to film themselves taking on the challenge with Go-Pro cameras.
3. Groups drawn
No, not for the Europa League just yet! The players and management team were divided into six groups to make proceedings run as smoothly as possible, with each group taking part in a photo- and videoshoot, although only the players are allowed to take part in the 'Corner Kings' challenge. On the left, you can see Alexander Esswein trying his luck from a corner - to find out how he got on, you'll have to wait until 4 August!
4. Paul Verhaegh: All made up
Prior to facing the cameras, club captain Paul Verhaegh was in good humour, wisecracking while having his make-up applied. "I'm over 30 now, so you have to do this sort of thing more often," he said, eyes firmly shut and in the zone.
5. A trip down memory lane for Marwin Hitz
One of last season's more astonishing goals was certainly Marwin Hitz's last-minute equaliser for FCA against Bayer 04 Leverkusen in February (Matchday 22). The Swiss goalkeeper has been at it again in the Corner King challenge, if the video below is anything to go by.
