New York - German football legend Jens Lehmann had a busy first day indeed after arriving in New York on the US leg of the Bundesliga Legends Tour 2015.

The 45-year-old, who played for Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04 as well as winning 60 caps for Germany, is in the Big Apple to promote the German top flight ahead of the commencement of its 53rd edition, when FC Bayern München host Hamburger SV on Friday.

After landing safely at Newark airport following a nine-hour flight, Lehmann was whisked straight to the offices of FOX Sports, where he gave a live interview to FOX in Los Angeles, giving his thoughts on the coming season.

After leaving Fox's Manhattan studio, he then took a stroll on the streets of New York, occasionally being recognised by passers by, before he was able to catch the final few minutes of Tuesday's UEFA Super Cup between FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC in an authentic Italian pizzeria. There, the owner turned out to be a huge fan of football and the Bundesliga, and was delighted to pick Lehmann's brains on the subject.

Mexico City and Rio to come

There's little time to rest, with a trip to Mexico City on Thursday and another to Rio de Janeiro on Saturday. That's still plenty of time for to attract a few more supporters to the league of the world champions, however.
