Goals: 0-1 Junuzovic (7'), 1-1 Reus (32') 2-1 Aubameyang (42'), 2-2 Bartels (46'), 2-3 Kruse (68') 3-3 Reus (75'), 4-3 Aubameyang (89')

Dortmund's hopes of bypassing the Champions League play-off round were thrown into turmoil when Zlatko Junuzovic prodded Bremen ahead, despite the best efforts of BVB goalkeeper Roman Bürki. Goal-line technology was required to determine the opener, but there was no debating Marco Reus' fine low finish as Dortmund deservedly levelled. The home side had their tails up, and duly went ahead ten minutes later, with Aubameyang meeting an audacious Ousmane Dembele pass with a thunderous over-the-shoulder volley.

Needing a win of their own to have any chance of playing UEFA Europa League football next term, Bremen levelled immediately after the restart thanks to Fin Bartels' close-range finish. The Green-Whites clearly had not read the script as Max Kruse restored the visitors' advantage, only for Reus to haul BVB level from the penalty spot for the second time. Dortmund went up a gear, with Aubameyang serving up his 31st Bundesliga goal of the campaign from 12 yards to seal third place and his maiden Torjägerkanone prize.

Man of the Match

Aubameyang’s brace sees him end the season as the top scorer in the Bundesliga, with a haul of 31 – one more than Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

Talking Point

On a hat-trick, Reus selflessly handed Aubameyang the match-ball with the scores at 3-3, knowing his strike partner in crime still had every chance of dethroning Robert Lewandowski as top scorer. The Gabon star kept up his end of the bargain, tying cub legend Lothar Emmerich's 31- goal single-season record in the process.
