Jadon Sancho scored on his first appearance since suffering ankle ligament damage in Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 win over Cologne at the start of February.

The England U17 international started for the club’s U19 side in a junior Revierderby against Schalke, scoring the final goal as Borussia suffered a 4-2 defeat.

Sancho, who joined in the summer from English Premier League side Manchester City, had made impressive strides for BVB in the six Bundesliga games he featured in prior to his injury, including setting up Shinji Kagawa’s equaliser at Hertha Berlin on Matchday 19.

The Londoner made history the previous week against Wolfsburg when he became the first Englishman to start a competitive fixture for Dortmund.

A return to action could see Sancho feature in Borussia’s UEFA Europa League second leg at Red Bull Salzburg with Die Schwarzgelben needing to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit. He will though face stiff competition in attack from the revitalised trio of Mario Götze, Marco Reus and Andre Schürrle, though.
