USMNT star Julian Green is now the first and only player from the United States ever to score a competitive goal for FC Bayern München.
Julian Green may only be 21 years old but he already has three goals from just eight appearances for the USMNT. Now he has transferred that form over to his club football after scoring his first competitive goal for Bayern in their 3-1 win over FC Augsburg in the DFB Cup on Wednesday night.
Watch: Julian Green scores a pre-season hat-trick against Inter Milan in the USA:
It was an historic moment for the Tampa-born star, but not the only history he created on Wednesday. Green’s header, which put Bayern 2-0 up against their Bavarian rivals, was the first goal ever scored for the record champions by a USMNT player.
Green is in good company in the Bundesliga, with fellow USMNT stars such as Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic, Borussia Mönchengladbach's Fabian Johnson, Hertha Berlin centre-back John Brooks and Hamburger SV’s Bobby Wood lighting up the German top flight in recent weeks and months.
