1. FC Köln maintained their unbeaten home record this season after being held to a 1-1 draw with FC Ingolstadt 04, who themselves are undefeated on the road in 2015/16.

KÖLN 1-1 INGOLSTADT

Goals:1-0 Modeste (10'), 1-1 Matip (21')

The game began with a thrilling first 30 minutes. There were chances aplenty as both sides looked to break through early. It was Köln who spilled the first blood,. With ten minutes gone, Marcel Risse delivered a brilliant cross from the right wing to find striker Anthony Modeste. The Frenchman, unmarked due to a slip by Ingolstadt captain Marvin Matip, headed home for his fifth goal of the season.

Matip made amends only eleven minutes later, however, capitalising on some sloppy defending from the Billy Goats. Both Yuya Osako and Frederik Sörensen were guilty of giving Matip too much space at an Ingolstadt corner, and he headed in for the equaliser.

As the first half drew to a close, the tempo began to wane, and the second half picked up in the same vein, with only a handful of half chances for either to spice up the action. The final twenty minutes saw a slight resurgence from the home side, with Ingolstadt beginning to tire. With less than ten minutes to go, Köln were gifted a major opportunity to get a winner, but Osako's close range effort could only force a smart save from Ramazan Özcan.

Man of the Match

Anthony Modeste looked quiet at times during the game, but that was largely due to the fact that he wasn't being provided with excellent service. The one good ball he did receive he put straight into the back of the net, however, and that was enough to continue a fine run of form since joining Köln

Talking Point

With the exception of their second half showing against Dortmund, Ingolstadt have proven time and again that they are capable of frustrating and even forcing a result against their new opponents in the top flight. Though they tired late on here, Hasenhüttl's side showed their mettle once again, extending a fantastic run of away form over the last twelve months. They have earned their place in the top five of the Bundesliga.

Stats of the Match

This was the first time Ingolstadt have not gone into half time in a Bundesliga game with the score at 0-0

Marvin Matip scored his second Bundesliga goal. His first came while playing for 1. FC Köln...in March 2006.

There were 31 shots on goal during the game: 16 for Ingolstadt and 15 for Köln.
