Wary of facing an attack-minded Bayer 04 Leverkusen side, 1. FSV Mainz 05 coach Martin Schmidt could bring defender Jean-Philippe Gbamin back into the fold after the French Under-21 international was rested for the 2-1 midweek win away to SV Werder Bremen. Elsewhere, Yoshinori Muto could replace Jhon Cordoba up front ahead of Thursday's trip to Azerbaijan in the UEFA Europa League.

Roger Schmidt is without Germany attacker Karim Bellarabi – the 26-year-old a long-term absentee after picking up a serious groin injury in the early stages of Leverkusen’s 3-1 win at home to Hamburger SV. Julian Brandt is expected to start after impressing off the bench against FC Augsburg.

Mainz’s meeting with Leverkusen kicks off at 15:30 CET/13:30 GMT on Saturday 24 September at the Opel Arena. Click here to find out where to watch it where you are.
