Only a win will do for FC Schalke 04, who are yet to pick up a point or even score a goal in the Bundesliga so far this season. Apart from long-term absentees Coke and Atsuto Uchida, coach Markus Weinzierl has everyone at his disposal and could recall midfielder Johannes Geis for his set-piece prowess as they look to get off the mark in 2016/17.

While the Royal Blues are languishing at the bottom of the table, 1. FC Köln are at the opposite end having won two, drawn one and kept three successive clean sheets. The main personnel worry for coach Peter Stöger is attacking midfielder Leonardo Bittencourt, who looks set to miss out with a muscle strain.
