Taking a stand

Before we sign off, here's some news of the Bundesliga continuing its commitment to helping refugees arriving in Germany. The clubs of the top two divisions will sport '#refugeeswelcome' badges on their shirts for the coming round of matches, with Bundesliga premium partner Hermes agreeing to a weekend of action without its logo on the sleeve.

With that, we'll say goodbye. There'll be more live text coverage of the Bundesliga on Thursday, but until then you have the German clubs' involvement in Europe to keep your idle thumbs busy. Tschüß!

Get well soon

Scoring twice in Werder Bremen's 3-1 win over Hoffenheim obviously took it's toll on Zlatko Junuzovic!

Special visit

Can you imagine one of your home town's best footballers walking through you classroom door when you were that age!?

Stunning show of support

FC Schalke 04 have been at the forefront of the Bundesliga's campaign to help provide much needed support to refugees. On Sunday their fans also let their voice be heard on the subject.

What a bunch of posers!

With the smiles from their 2-1 win over 1. FSV Mainz 05 still lingering on their faces, FC Schalke 04 took the opportunity to get a team photo taken ahead of their opening UEFA Europa League group stage encounter.

That's one way to get it done

Communication is the key ingredient to any prolific front line partnership and it doesn't seem to be a problem amongst the Werder Bremen strikers.

Historic nightmare!

Hannover 96's Felipe got his name in the Bundesliga record books on Mathcday 4. Such a shame that it was for what will probably go down as the worst performance of his career...

For he's a jolly good fellow...

He may be the first FC Bayern player to wish Douglas Costa a happy birthday, but Artuor Vidal most certainly won't be the last.

Green with anything but envy

Nothing beats the Monday morning blues like reflecting on a hard-earned win in the Bundesliga and that's exactly how SV Werder Bremen are approaching their start to the week.

Fan favourite's farewell

Having moved back to his home country of Poland to play for Lechia Gdansk, Slawomir Peszko popped into the 1. FC Köln head quarters to bid farewell to a club with whom he has spent the last

Smile more!

FC Schalke 04 have got the right idea as they look to kick off the week on the right foot.

Someone's chipper this morning

Alejandro Galvez appears to be in a good mood this fine Monday morning. No doubt SV Werder Bremen's 3-1 win over TSG 1899 Hoffenheim had something to do with it.

Good morning lovely Bundesliga fans!

Matchday 4 is in the bag, but with the fixtures coming thick and fast there's no time to rest upon laurels as we cast our eyes over the reaction to this weekend's results all whilst keeping abreast of all things UEFA Champions League related. However, first we begin with salutations for one of the summer's best signings, FC Bayern's Douglas Costa.

Sunday, 13 September

Over and out

Well after all that, we'll bid you adieu until the morning, where we'll be dissecting the weekend's action once again and looking ahead to the German clubs' involvement in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Thanks, awfully.

Hunter strikes

Despite missing a fourth penalty in a row, Klaas.-Jan Huntelaar was the hero for Schalke as his second-half goal gave the Royal Blues a 2-1 win over Mainz.

Schalke doing their bit

As part of Schalke’s #StandUp campaign to help refugees arriving in the country, all 60,083 fans at the Veltins Arena have displayed placards conveying messages of support:

Pizarro the inspiration

It was written in the stars, wasn't it? Claudio Pizarro came off the bench to set up Anthony Ujah to make it 2-1 to Bremen in the 90th minute against Hoffenheim, with Zlatko Junuzovic adding a third in a 3-1 victory. What a result, and what a debut for Pizza!

SV Werder Bremen defender Jannik Vestergaard takes on former club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim this afternoon. The Denmark defender made 82 appearances for the Sinsheim outfit, but today he'll be looking to help Werder make it two wins out of two in the league. That one kicks off at 15:30 CEST.

Welcome Kingsley!

Many FC Bayern fans are getting their first glimpse of Kingsley Coman in action today. The Deadline Day loan signing from Juventus is taking part in an open training session after making his competitive debut for the champions against Augsburg.

Guess who's back!

A sight for sore eyes - for Borussia Dortmund fans in particular. Nuri Sahin back training with a ball at his feet. Hope to see him back on the pitch before too long...

Debutants in pictures

bundesliga.com presents a pictorial look at how the Bundesliga's last-minute summer transfers - including Kingsley Coman, Julian Draxler and Adnan Januzaj - fared on Matchday 4. Enjoy!

Back with a bang!

After several months out with a knee injury, Alexander Meier returned to the Eagles starting line-up against Köln on Saturday evening. The 2015/16 top scorer bagged a hat-trick as Armin Veh's charges romped to a 6-2 victory over the Billy Goats in an enthralling contest. What a comeback!

Fond memories

"Flashback: Huntelaar scored a hat-trick the last time S04 played Mainz 05. Result: 4-1. What about today?

The Royal Blues' clash with Martin Schmidt's Mainz kicks off at 17:30 CEST today. Don't miss it!

Happy birthday, Thomas Müller!

He might be waking up with a sore head this morning, but few could blame him if he did! After rescuing FC Bayern from the penalty spot against Augsburg on Saturday, Thomas Müller is celebrating his 26th birthday today. Many happy returns, Thomas!

Cloud nine for BVB!

There's just no stopping Borussia Dortmund at the moment. Despite trailing 1-0 to Hannover 96 on Matchday 4, goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (2), Henrikh Mkhitaryan and an own goal from Felipe secured an eventual 4-2 victory for Thomas Tuchel's side, who have now registered nine straight wins in all competitions. Not bad, boys!

Saturday, 12 September

Sunday supplement

We've had a day of drama, emotion and excitement in the Bundesliga - par for the course for Germany's top league - but there's more to come tomorrow, with Hoffenheim hosting Bremen and Schalke entertaining Mainz. Check back in with us tomorrow to follow all the action from both those matches. See you then!

Eagles soaring

Köln have not won a floodlit game on a Saturday evening since 2011, and that barren run continued as they were swept away by Frankfurt at the Commerzbank Arena. Their chief tormentor was Alexander Meier, who marked his comeback to fitness with a hat-trick.

'Auba' at the double

BVB also had to come from behind on Saturday, but eventually emerged 4-2 winners at Hannover 96. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (below) scored twice, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and a Felipe own goal rendering Artur Sobiech's brace meaningless.

Müller rescues FCB

FC Bayern had to come from behind to beat Augsburg, but a Thomas Müller penalty eventually earned the Bavarians all three points at the Allianz Arena. Pep Guardiola's side remain second behind Borussia Dortmund on goal difference...

Enjoy the action!

The 15:30 games are about to start, but we'll be back afterwards with reaction to the day's results. In the meantime, don't forget to tune in to Bundesliga radio for Bayern's clash with Augsburg! You can follow the rest of the action via bundesliga.com's live ticker. See you all later!

Onwards and upwards for Köln?

Today's late match comes from the Commerzbank Arena, where 1. FC Köln will be looking to maintain their excellent start to the campaign against an Eintracht Frankfurt outfit who registered an impressive 4-1 win at Stuttgart last time out. You can listen to this one on Bundesliga radio from 18:30 CEST.

Ibisevic set for debut against former club

After scoring 47 goals in 111 appearances for VfB Stuttgart, new Hertha Berlin striker Vedad Ibisevic is set to take on his former employers at the Olympiastadion this afternoon. Alexander Zorniger's side are in desperate need of points having lost their opening three league matches, while Hertha have collected four points from a possible nine so far.

Super sub?

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Roger Schmidt has confirmed that Javier Hernandez will start today's match against Darmstadt on the bench, but it would still take a brave man to bet against 'Chicharito' finding the net on his competitive debut for die Werkself. The visitors remain unbeaten this season, though, and have already held FC Schalke 04 to a 1-1 draw at the Veltins-Arena. Dirk Schuster's side are a tough nut to crack.

Top of the charts

BVB have positively flown out of the traps this season and are looking to extend their incredible winning run under Thomas Tuchel to nine with victory at Hannover 96 this afternoon. Deadline Day loan signing Adnan Januzaj is set to make his competitive debut for the club.

Arturo's rallying cry

"Together we're one!!! Mia san mir!!!

Ingolstadt return for Träsch

No, he never played for die Schanzer, but Christian Träsch was born in the Bavarian city 28 years ago. Today, he takes on FC Ingolstadt for the very first time.

Congratulations!

One day Franz Beckenbauer's birthday, it's VfL Wolfsburg's turn to celebrate their 70th anniversary. The Wolves, who take on FC Ingolstadt 04 this afternoon, were founded on 12 September 1945. Many happy returns!

Derby time!

Can Augsburg repeat their heroics from last season and win at the Allianz Arena? If they do it'll be their third victory over Pep Guardiola's charges since the Catalan took over in the summer of 2013. It's a big ask, but stranger things have happened... Make sure you tune in to Bundesliga radio at 15:30 CEST to follow the action!

Stranzl undergoes operation

Morning everyone! Not such a good morning Borussia Mönchengladbach fans, mind... The Foals slumped to their fourth straight league defeat on Friday evening, going down 3-0 to Hamburger SV at the Borussia-Park. To make matters worse for Lucien Favre's side, key defender Martin Stranzl has been ruled out for six to eight weeks after suffering a fractured eye socket in the loss to the Red Shorts. Stranzl has already undergone a successful operation on the injury, but is now likely to be sidelined until November.

Possible line-ups?

Here is how Borussia Dortmund expect the teams to line up tomorrow when they face Hannover 96. Do you agree?

Pep Guardiola press conference

FC Bayern coach Pep Guardiola has held his pre-match press conference, ahead of the Southern Showdown with FC Augsburg. Here is what he had to say...

...on new signing Kingsley Coman: "He's trained today. I think it's great when a player comes and says that he's the best – it wasn't like that in my day, but it's great. He might or he might not play. He's young and he still needs time."

...on opponents Augsburg: "They're a very aggressive team with a good coach and good players. This game against Augsburg is the most important game in our lives - right now."

...on injuries: "[Javi Martinez]'s not 100 per cent fit yet, but he's trained well and there aren't any problems. I hope that [Arjen Robben] can return in two or three weeks. He's very important for us. I have a lot of faith in my team."

Thomas Tuchel press conference

Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel has just met the media. Here are a few snippets from his press conference:

Tuchel on…

…new signing Adnan Januzaj: "He's a very calm, but also very open lad. He's strong in the one-on-one with his slinky movement. However, he's still got to get used to German football. I can't rule out him playing, though.

…Dortmund's eight-game winning start to the season in all competitions: "We know full well what we've done to get it and we don't have any intention of stopping now."

…injury problems: "It doesn't look like Marco Reus is going to make it, while there's a question mark over Adrian Ramos too. He's not yet got over his bout of flu. The international break and the change of scenery has done the lads good, but you can see how happy they are to be back.

…matching Bayern at the top: "The season's still very long and you mustn't lose your respect for every single training session and every one of your opponents. All that would make me happy [this weekend] would be another win. Results are what motivate you and we want to be a challenger at the top.

Just wait until you make your debut in the Bundesliga, Adnan!
