Leverkusen were made to work hard for the points by a dogged visiting side, and came from behind to go 3-1 up thanks to goals from Charles Aranguiz, Kevin Kampl and Stefan Kießling, before Moritz Hartmann pulled one back for Ingolstadt. It marked the side's eighth Bundesliga win in their last nine outings, a run that saw them fend off their rivals for the final automatic UEFA Champions League qualifying place.
