Brandt: 'A big step towards the Champions League'

Goalscorer Julian Brandt was delighted Leverkusen could capitalise on slip-ups by their competitors to reclaim fourth place in the table after the win at Köln.

Bernd Leno says Leverkusen have it "in their own hands" as they bid to finish in the top four. "Our chances good. We still have to play Hertha and Gladbach and it's in our hands. We'll try to stay on Hertha's coat-tails as long as we can."

FULL TIME: KÖLN 0-2 LEVERKUSEN - The final whistle goes and Leverkusen celebrate an important win that gives them a three-point cushion over Gladbach in fifth.

RED CARD(S): 90' It's all kicked off here, with both sets of players squaring up. Leo Bittencourt is eventually shown a straight red card for his late tackle on Admir Mehmedi, with Leverkusen's Wendell given a second yellow for his part in the ensuing tussle.

Dortmund's draw at Schalke leaves Borussia seven points behind Bayern at the top, but Matthias Ginter says the Bavarians "can't celebrate just yet".
