Andre Schürrle (Wolfsburg midfielder): "It was a good goal and it was good for us because if you go into the international break on the back of a 1-0 defeat it's always bad. Everyone's disappointed, but it's better to have a point than to have lost. We weren't the team we can be today. That's our fault. We have to keep pushing and play better than we did today. I tried the whole game to get a good shot because I know I can shoot from outside the box. I got lucky in the last minute."
Maximilian Arnold (Wolfsburg midfielder): "It's difficult to play against Darmstadt. There wasn't a lot of room so it wasn't easy, but our aim was to win the game. Andre [Schürrle] saved us. He's very important for us and we're delighted to have him here. We need to keep working hard and give our all and then we'll see what comes of it."
Dieter Hecking (Wolfsburg coach): "The result is disappointing for us. We had hoped to win at home. We knew it wouldn't be easy, and we did everything that we set out to avoid doing. We played very slowly, and you can't do that against a team like Darmstadt, who always perform away from home. We only have ourselves to blame: we didn't manage to play quickly and get the ball moving."
Dirk Schuster (Darmstadt coach): “Before the game, we would definitely have taken a draw. But when you concede a late equaliser, it never feels good. Nonetheless, it's a nice complaint to have. We won a point against a Champions League quarter-finalist. We showed a lot of fight, a lot of discipline, and we were very good defensively. You can't keep everything out against a team like Wolfsburg."
Aytac Sulu (Darmstadt defender): "It's obviously bad that Schürrle had the opportunity to shoot from 25 metres without anyone closing him down. We should have attacked him earlier."
Christian Mathenia (Darmstadt goalkeeper): "If I were two centimetres taller, I could have got a hand to Schürrle's shot and pushed it away or onto the post. He struck it perfectly."
