They share one of the fiercest rivalries in German football, but if they could put aside their differences, FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund could form a formidable football unit.

Goalkeeper:Ralf Fährmann(Schalke)

bundesliga.com spans the Revierderby divide, and cherry-picks the top Official Fantasy Bundesliga performers from across the two squads to form a lip-lickingly good line-up.

There is a good reason the Schalke number one has not missed a Bundesliga game for his club since the start of the 2015/16 season. He has been a consistent performer in an inconsistent side this term, a fact reflected in him being the third-highest scoring 'keeper in Official Fantasy Bundesliga.

Right-back: Lukasz Piszczek (Dortmund)

The Poland international is a perennial high-level performer at full-back, and has not let down his Fantasy Managers this season, featuring in the top ten defenders for average points-per-game. So good is he at right-back, it's hard to believe he was a midfielder earlier in his career.

Centre-back: Benedikt Höwedes (Schalke)

'Mr. Schalke' has again been the platform on which his team's challenge in both the Bundesliga and the UEFA Europa League has been mounted. With 151 points, the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner is one of the most prolific Fantasy scorers among defenders.

Centre-back:Sokratis(Dortmund)

The departure of Mats Hummels for Bayern Munich last summer required the Greek international to become Dortmund's dominant defender. It is a role he has taken on with relish. With his iron-clad performance against Ingolstadt last time out, he finds himself among the four top-performing defenders right now.

Left-back: Sead Kolasinac (Schalke)

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has had to bide his time before getting his opportunity at the VELTINS Arena, but it has been worth the wait. With three goals and five assists, the 23-year-old has almost been as effective going forward as he has been destructive in his day job with just two Bundesliga defenders racking up more Fantasy points so far this season.

Defensive midfielder:Gonzalo Castro(Dortmund)

Once a jack-of-virtually-all-trades, the former Leverkusen man has become a master of one. His ability to accelerate play going forward while forcing opponents to hit the brakes in front of the BVB back four means he has one of the best points-to-value ratios in Official Fantasy Bundesliga.

Defensive midfielder: Johannes Geis (Schalke)

The ex-Mainz man could not be more tigerish were he coloured orange and black. His laser-precision set-piece delivery can be invaluable too, though Schalke have not exploited it fully this season: Geis has teed up a league-high 38 shots on goal without his team-mates turning one of those passes into an assist.

Watch: The rise and rise of Ousmane Dembele

Attacking midfielder:Ousmane Dembele(Dortmund)

The France international's maiden season in Germany has been a success with a capital 'S'. The 19-year-old's tally of 148 Official Fantasy Bundesliga points — boosted by his six goals and nine assists — puts him inside the top 20 top scorers among his fellow forwards.

Attacking midfielder: Nabil Bentaleb (Schalke)

The artful Algeria international has become a vital cog in the Schalke machine since arriving on loan from Tottenham Hotspur last summer. In the top 15 midfielders for Official Fantasy Bundesliga points, Bentaleb's five league goals and four assists this term make him a solid bet.

Watch: Christian Pulisic's Bundesliga goals so far

Attacking midfielder:Christian Pulisic(Dortmund)

But for Dembele, the USMNT man would have been BVB's star youngster this season. Still, the 18-year-old has caught the eye, filling some of the void left by Henrikh Mkhitaryan's departure for Manchester United with three goals and five assists this term, and putting himself in the top 15 of Official Fantasy Bundesliga's most-picked players.

Forward: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Dortmund)

The Gabon international has a league-high 23 goals this season, that's just nine fewer than the whole Schalke squad have managed. Only Bayern's Robert Lewandowski has amassed more points than 'Auba', who even at 17.1 million looks a bargain for all you Official Fantasy Bundesliga managers who have yet to put your faith in Dortmund's goalgetter par excellence.
