With Jonathan Tah ruled out, interim Bayer Leverkusen head coach Tayfun Korkut has to decide whether to pair Aleksandar Dragovic or Tin Jedvaj with Ömer Toprak at the heart of the back four. Julian Baumgartlinger could be brought into defensive midfield to shore up a shaky defence that shipped six goals in Dortmund last weekend. Leading marksman Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez will almost certainly start after only being used as a second-half substitute on Matchday 23.

Visitors Werder Bremen were dealt a blow earlier in the week when it was confirmed club captain Clemens Fritz will miss the remainder of the campaign with an ankle ligament injury. Alexander Nouri is able to call on Denmark midfield engine Thomas Delaney again, however, but leading scorer Serge Gnabry misses out with a knee problem. USMNT international Aron Johannsson and Florian Kaintz are vying for the resultant vacancy in attack.
