Philipp Lahm and Pep Guardiola were relieved FC Bayern München got past Bavarian rivals FC Augsburg despite the injury-enforced absence of Holger Badstuber.

FC Augsburg 1-3 FC Bayern München

Goals: 0-1 Lewandowski (15'), 0-2 Lewandowski (62'), 0-3 Müller (78'), 1-3 Bobadilla (86')

Pep Guardiola (Bayern coach): "What happened to Holger [Badstuber] is a nightmare. It’s not normal to suffer that many injuries and endure that much surgery in such a short space of time, but he’ll come back. [Joshua Kimmich and David Alaba] did really well today. It’s not easy to defend against [Raul] Bobadilla. They’re not centre-backs by trade. The two of them deserve a huge compliment!"

Philipp Lahm (Bayern midfielder): "Holger has fought back so many times and recovered his form, which makes his new injury really hard to take. It’s a difficult situation having to play without an experienced centre-back, but he’ll have to make do with it. [Robert Lewandowski] has an eye for goal and is a real threat in the area."

Robert Lewandowski (Bayern forward): "I'm happy that I scored again but I don’t really care if I'm leading the top-scorer list, the most important thing is we won the three points. I focus on the Bundesliga first, then the Champions League, that is what's important to me."

Paul Verhaegh (Augsburg defender): "We were unable to get a result today. We have to get results against other opponents."

Philipp Max (Augsburg left-back): "We did well in the first half and didn’t allow them many chances. We showed good attitude and can be satisfied with that."

Markus Weinzierl (Augsburg coach): "It was a deserved victory. Bayern’s world class individuals made the difference. We changed our attack, naturally, to try and close the spaces Bayern could use. Many teams will lose against Bayern."
