After picking up an encouraging point FC Bayern at the Allianz Arena on Matchday 19, Schalke breezed past Sandhausen in the DFB Cup in midweek. Veteran striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar - who featured in that game - is nearing full match fitness, but Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been ruled out.

Hertha Berlin had 120 minutes of DFB Cup action on Wednesday, and that tiring outing could force Pal Dardai to make changes this weekend. Fabian Lustenberger is set for a start after being left out of the starting XI on Wednesday, but Mitchell Weiser remains sidelined through injury.
