Hertha Berlin provided the stern test that Borussia Dortmund were expecting in the top-of-the-table clash in the capital. After an evenly-balanced and hard-fought affair, both sides could live with the point.

Hertha Berlin 0-0 Borussia Dortmund

Goals: -

Julian Weigl (Dortmund midfielder): "It was a very difficult game for us. We weren’t able to get behind the defense in the first half. Hertha defended vigilantly and well and were adventurous going forward as well. We tried everything in the second half and created some chances but weren’t able to finish them effectively. A draw is a fair result and we can live with the point even if we’re not happy with it."

Marcel Schmelzer (Dortmund defender): "At the end of the day, we have to be happy with the point. We didn’t play well and you could see that Hertha deserve to be third in the table. It was an intensive game and Hertha defended really well. We might have made it a bit too easy for them because we didn’t get stuck in enough."

Thomas Tuchel (Borussia Dortmund coach): „This pitch poses a great problem if you want to play attacking and dominant football. But it wasn’t just down to the pitch. In the first half, we weren’t very well organized and slow to react. Things improved in the second half and we found the space better, but in the end played what felt like 44 minutes against ten men lined up in front of the Berlin goal.“

Pal Dardai (Hertha Berlin coach): "We kept the space tight and put in a great performance tactically. We’ll take the point but we are still lacking the final pass and goals to become a true top side."
