Joel Pohjanpalo (Bayer 04 Leverkusen) and Bobby Wood (Hamburger SV) both made their first-ever shot on goal in the Bundesliga count as they got off the mark in the top-flight at the first time of asking. VfL Wolfsburg’s Daniel Didavi also scored with his first shot for his new club.

For the record 12th time it was a Bayern player who scored the first goal of the season. Xavi Alonso was the man who opened the scoring this time.

Borussia Dortmund have never lost a home game in the Bundesliga under Thomas Tuchel. The 2-1 win over 1. FSV Mainz 05 was the 22nd consecutive match without defeat at fortress Signal Iduna Park.
