Hoffenheim's hopes of bouncing back from a first Bundesliga defeat of the season are hampered by the suspension of top scorer Sandro Wagner, who was sent off last week. Fellow striker Mark Uth is expected to take his place in the side. There are otherwise no new personnel concerns for coach Julian Nagelsmann, who is still without Lukas Rupp and Jeremy Toljan.

Mainz can welcome back striker Jhon Cordoba from suspension for this one, and he is expected to go straight into the starting XI. Marquee winter signing Bojan Krkic has been training with his team-mates this week and is expected to be on the bench, but Leon Balogun and Karim Onisiwo are still sidelined.
