Following Daniel Caligiuri's intra-Bundesliga transfer to FC Schalke 04, VfL Wolfsburg head coach Valerien Ismael will have to make at least one change to the side that beat Hamburger SV last time out. Portugal international Vierinha replaced Caligiuri in the second half on Matchday 17 and is the most likely candidate to start, although Jakub Blaszczykowski is a viable alternative on the right-hand side.

Watch: Highlights of Wolfsburg's 1-0 win over Hamburg on Matchday 17:

With Konstantinos Stafylidis serving a mandatory one-match ban, Philipp Max is expected to deputise on the left-hand side of the FC Augsburg back four. Club captain Paul Verhaegh and midfielder Jonathan Schmid missed training on Wednesday with colds, but should be fit enough to start at the Volkswagen Arena. Raul Bobadilla will almost certainly feature from the bench following injury, as the Paraguay forward did a week ago in the 2-0 defeat to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
