There was drama abound at BORUSSIA-PARK on Matchday 17 as Borussia Mönchengladbach left-back Oscar Wendt struck an 86th-minute winner to put the seal on a barnstorming 3-2 victory over promoted SV Darmstadt 98.

Trailing to Marcel Heller's first-half opener and with a man disadvantage following Granit Xhaka's sending off, Lars Stindl's stunning strike gave Gladbach an unlikely lifeline shortly before the break. Havard Nordtveit then put the Foals ahead for the first time, only for Sandro Wagner to restore parity with the goal that looked like being enough for a draw. One final throw of the Gladbach dice yielded the decisive winner, however, as Wendt expertly curled home to send the Borussia faithful into a frenzy.
