Fabulous Fabian back for Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt extended their unbeaten run to seven matches in last weekend's 1-1 draw at FC Augsburg, but there is a sneaking suspicion they might have got more out of the game had Marco Fabian not missed the game through suspension. Luckily for Eintracht fans, the Mexico international returns for the visit of unbowed TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Friday, eager to resume tormentor-in-chief duties and build on his impressive season haul of three goals and four assists.

Leipzig with golden standards to maintain

Like Hoffenheim - and La Liga leaders Real Madrid CF for that matter - RB Leipzig have an unbeaten start to the season to uphold on Matchday 14. The Bundesliga pacesetters have won ten and drawn three of their 13 top-flight assignments to date, winning their last eight on the bounce. Head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl's former club FC Ingolstadt 04 provide the opposition this weekend, in a game that has more than just a touch of the David vs Goliath about it.

The Legend of Lewangoalski

Robert Lewandowski's goal-scoring prowess is the stuff of legend these days, but there is one team that knows a little more than most about how potent the FC Bayern München front man can be on his day. VfL Wolfsburg led the defending champions 1-0 at half-time in last season's corresponding fixture at the Allianz Arena, before a certain Pole stepped off the bench to plunder five goals in nine minutes and seal an unforgettable comeback win. Worryingly for the Wolves, the 27-year-old has since added unerringly accurate free-kicks to his arsenal, sticking away two dead-ball specials in his last two appearances in all competitions.

Modeste on Auba's coat-tails

Although Lewandowski scored twice on Matchday 13 to take his Bundesliga tally for the 2016/17 campaign to nine goals, he still has ground to make up in the scoring charts. 1. FC Köln striker Anthony Modeste is a surprise name towards the top of the mid-season list of shrpshooters with 12 goals in 13 appearances, but it is Borussia Dortmund counterpart Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is out on his own, ahead of BVB's trip to Cologne on Saturday afternoon. The Gabon star, who is yet to get his hands on the Torjägerkanone, has struck 15 times in 12 Bundesliga outings so far this term, rattling off eight in his last four alone.

Youth turning heads at Leverkusen

Despite sitting seven points off the top-four pace, Bayer 04 Leverkusen needn't be too downhearted with their domestic efforts so far in 2016/17. Some of the Bundesliga's brightest talents - Vladlen Yurchenko (22), Julian Brandt (20), Jonathan Tah (20) Benjamin Henrichs (19) and Kai Havertz (17) - ply their trade at the BayArena, and all played their part as Die Werkself progressed to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 as one of only six teams to go unbeaten in this season's group stage. If their European form rubs off in Matchday 14's curtain closer at the VELTINS Arena, hosts FC Schalke 04 could be in for another rough ride following their 2-1 defeat to Leipzig last time out.
