Summary

  • Sokratis and Hummels both on 61 points.
  • Weigl wins more challenges; Alonso scores more goals.
  • Nothing to separate Aubameyang and Lewandowski.

I envy those users who have just signed up to the Official Fantasy Bundesliga Autumn League. What a weekend to join the fun! You're probably as excited as I am - and with good reason: Der Klassiker is just around the corner!

The Official Fantasy Bundesliga Autumn League ends on 18 November, but it's not too late to sign up!

The thrill of anticipation is huge, especially as there are no favourites for Saturday's game - on the pitch anyway. But what about in the Official Fantasy Bundesliga? I've examined both the Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern München squads in three key areas and now I can reveal which players I think can score the most points at the weekend.

Sokratis vs Hummels

The two defensive stalwarts will have plenty to do on Saturday. Both have fared pretty well in the Official Fantasy Bundesliga season, collecting 61 points each, albeit with their strengths coming to the fore in different areas. Sokratis has won more duels, while Mats Hummels has been deducted fewer points for goals conceded and has won more bonus points for clean sheets. Hummels also carries a greater goal threat, even if he hasn't scored for a while. On the other hand, Sokratis has a more favourable price tag of 13.3M; Hummels will cost you 2M more. However, there's no clear winner for me in this battle of former teammates.

Watch: A look back at the achievements of former teammates Mats Hummels and Mario Götze:

Weigl vs Alonso

It's a similar story in defensive midfield for two players both valued at 13.3M. Dortmund's Julian Weigl wins significantly more challenges, while Bayern counterpart Xabi Alonso has already scored twice. Weigl is currently ahead, though, with 67 points to Alonso's 60. What is more, Alonso has not scored more than two goals in a single season since 2009/10 and is hardly a guaranteed goalscorer. So if you ask me who you should plump for in midfield, I'd have to say Weigl is your man!

Aubameyang vs Lewandowski

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (15.95M) or Robert Lewandowski (16.05M)? I had to ask myself this question a few weeks ago and decided to sell the Dortmund striker after a few bad weeks. What a mistake that was: Aubameyang amassed 25 points after scoring four against Hamburger SV on Matchday 10! Nevertheless, Lewandowski still has more points on the board - 106 to Auba's 97. The Pole also wins a lot more challenges and picks up points even when he doesn't score. That being said, this one's just too hard to call: sign both if you can!

So, who's going to win Der Klassiker? That's a toughie, but I do think BVB will shade it when it comes to Fantasy points. Will that be enough for them to actually come away with the win? My gut feeling is yes. I'll be glued to the TV set in any case, rooting for my Fantasy players!

Scout's honour,

Flo
