Bayern Munich's legends team will play in a prestigious friendly against their Liverpool counterparts at Anfield on 24 March 2018.
Former greats of the Bundesliga and Premier League giants will get kitted out again for a fixture between two clubs who have amassed an extraordinary 45 domestic titles between them.
"It's going to be a highlight for all involved to be able to run out in such impressive surroundings as Anfield Road," said Bayern's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on fcbayern.com. "And the fans are going to get another opportunity to see their former idols in action again."
The mouth-watering Bayern Munich selection is brimming with talent, with legends Hans-Jörg Butt, Lothar Matthäus, Bixente Lizarazu, Sammy Kuffour, Ze Roberto, Giovane Elber, Luca Toni and Roy Makaay all confirmed for the German record champions. Liverpool will be represented by former greats Jerzy Dudek, Jamie Carragher, John Arne Riise, Gary McAllister, Luis Garcia, Dirk Kuyt and Steven Gerrard.
Xabi Alonso – who had the honour of wearing the red of Liverpool and Bayern – will play 45 minutes for both teams. He is one of several stars to have appeared for both the Merseysiders and Bavarians, including Markus Babbel, Dietmar Hamann, Christian Ziege and Pepe Reina.
Proceeds from a fixture which was last staged in an official competition at the UEFA Super Cup in 2001, when the Champions League holders Bayern were beaten 3-2 by UEFA Cup winners Liverpool in Monaco, will all go to charity.
The two teams also met at the pre-season Audi Cup in August, with Liverpool beating Bayern 3-0 at the Allianz Arena.
