Augsburg scored early and late to earn their first point of the campaign following a frenetic game against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Augsburg 2-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Goals: 1-0 Finnbogasson (1'), 1-1 Zakaria (7'), 1-2 Wendt (30'),2-2 Cordova (89')

Augsburg had not scored in two competitive games this season but Alfred Finnbogason needed only 35 seconds to break the deadlock. The lead lasted only six minutes though as Denis Zakaria calmly beat home keeper Marwin Hitz in a one-on-one and Oscar Wendt then put the visitors in front when he headed home a rebound. Gladbach's Thorgan Hazard hit the inside of the post before the break but Augsburg piled on the pressure in the second half. They got their reward when 20-year-old Venezuelan Sergio Cordova ghosted in to level although both sides could have won it in injury-time.
