Borussia Dortmund stars Mario Götze and Marcel Schmelzer have responded to a plea by two young fans to change the names on the back of shirts they received last Christmas.

Two sisters Olivia (8) and Emily (11) received Dortmund shirts with the names of Ousmane Dembele and Emre Mor on the back. This summer, Dembele left the Westphalians for Barcelona, while Mor linked up with Celta Vigo.

The father of the two girls from Velbert wrote to Germany's Bild newspaper asking if they could help, and one of the paper's readers just happened to be Götze, and he was only too happy to oblige.

The two young fans received signed shirts from the Dortmund stars at the club's training ground in Brackel, Dortmund, on Sunday.

It comes after Götze had seen the girls' ple on Facebook in August, and insisted that he and his teammate Schmelzer would give the pair new shirts.

"Sad fans at the start of the season are a no go!" he wrote on Facebook. "We may not be Mr Watzke, but Schmelle and I would nevertheless like to gift you new shirts."

Thanks to the kindness of the two Dortmund stars, Olivia and Emily will now be able to visit the Signal Iduna Park with the names and signatures of two of their heroes on the field on the back of their shirts.
