Munich - FC Bayern München have confirmed the signing of Brazilian international Douglas Costa from Ukrainian side FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
The winger, who can play on either flank, has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champion. Costa will link up with his new team-mates on 11 July.
'A dream comes true'
“A dream has come true for me today,” commented the 24-year-old. “I’m proud to become a Bayern player, following in the footsteps of so many fantastic Brazilian players. I’m looking forward to representing this outstanding team and will do everything I can to fulfil the expectations placed in me.”
Costa was in the starting line-up as Bayern overcame Shakhtar 7-0 in the second leg of the sides’ UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie at the Allianz Arena, and featured in Brazil's Copa America penalty shoot-out defeat to Paraguay last Saturday.
The former Porto Alegre star made 33 league appearances Shakhtar last season, scoring five goals and laying on a further seven.
