“I had a good feeling,” claimed the 27-year-old. “It’s now known around the league how dangerous my free-kicks are.” The sumptuous set-piece saw Junuzovic pick up 36 per cent of the poll, just edging out FC Augsburg’s Raul Bobadilla, who collected 27 per cent for his cheeky back-heeled finish, which proved to be the match-winner in a 1-0 win against Bundesliga champions FC Bayern München.
Borussia Mönchengladbach’s super sub Ibrahima Traore took the final podium place with 14 per cent of the vote after scoring a near carbon copy of his Matchday 31 strike in the Foals’ comprehensive 3-0 win over Rhineland rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Rounding out the vote, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim’s Kevin Volland finished on 13 per cent courtesy of the stunning set-piece he scored in a 3-1 reverse in Frankfurt, while Lukas Rupp’s late consolation in SC Paderborn 07’s defeat to VfL Wolfsburg by the same scoreline was only enough to claim nine per cent of the votes.
