Mönchengladbach - Borussia Mönchengladbach got the better of namesakes Dortmund on Matchday 28, beating Jürgen Klopp's charges 3-1 to extend their winning league run to six matches and cement their position in the top three.

Borussia Mönchengladbach:

bundesliga.com rounds up the players' post-match reaction from the Borussia-Park...

Granit Xhaka: "We played a really good game, we didn't give much away at the back and were dangerous on the counter. In my book, there's no doubt we deserved to win - we can be happy with that. I'm proud of the reaction we showed after going out of the DFB Cup. If we carry on like this, we can achieve something. It's something to build on."

Patrick Herrmann: "We played a superb game and deserved to win. Dortmund have an exceptional team and they showed it, but we didn't give much away and were really focused defensively. The early goal played into our hands: we were able to sit on our lead and play on the counter - we're just so dangerous when we do that. We have to keep it up. We want to hold onto [third place] right until the end and will do everything to do so."

Max Kruse: "We wanted to win the game from get-go. We wanted to force the opposition to make mistakes, which we managed to do in the first minute today. We can't undo our DFB Cup exit to Bielefeld, but we can do everything to end the Bundesliga season on a high. We're on the right path to do so: we're 12 points clear of fifth place and that's obviously something we mustn't let slip."

Tony Jantschke: "I'm proud of the team. Dortmund definitely had more of the ball, but we defended brilliantly and were fantastic on the counter. BVB played with unbelievable tempo, but we held our own. The early goal was obviously great for us and the second came at an ideal time, during Dortmund's best spell. The game was pretty much done at 3-0 and we were able to run down the clock."

Roel Brouwers: "It was hard work, but we put in a convincing performance and deserved to win. We were really good on the counter and created plenty of chances. Other than a few long-rangers, we didn't give much away defensively either. We can build on this performance. There are still six games to go and we want to take the maximum points on offer."

Borussia Dortmund

Mats Hummels: "The goal we conceded after 28 seconds […] sums up our season really. I think it's fair to say that we controlled the game until Patrick Herrmann's 70-yard run [which set up Gladbach's second goal]. You could tell from that goal how much self-belief Gladbach have at the moment. They knew the pendulum was swinging their way today and they had two more really good opportunities in the second half, which they weren't able to make the most of. We deservedly lost to an extremely efficient side today."

Marcel Schmelzer: "We want to get the six points we've dropped in our last two games back as quickly as possible. Our aim is to win our next home game [against SC Paderborn 07 on Matchday 29] and, if possible, add another three points in our next match."

Jakub Blaszczykowski: "Gladbach were the better team today. They played very well and passed the ball extremely well, which made it difficult for us to get anything from the game."

Jeremy Dudziak: "We're all frustrated and disappointed after this defeat. Personally I'm happy to have played, however. It's like a dream come true."
