Cologne - FC Schalke 04 star Atsuto Uchida's status as one of the Bundesliga's most popular players was underlined on Friday when a tweet celebrating his Birthday went viral.

to celebrate the Japanese international's 27th birthday, was both retweeted and favourited by over 300 people.
It wasn't just the Bundesliga's official account and its followers which sent well wishes to the full back, either. The
' official English-language Twitter channel's message also received well over 100 retweets. The popularity of the German top flight is booming in the Land of the Rising Sun, with new Japan coach Vahid Halilhodzic
calling up nine Bundesliga players
, including Uchida, for the current international break. The Samurai Blue host Tunisia in Oita on Friday, before welcoming Uzbekistan to Tokyo on 31 March.
