Stindl strike clinches Matchday 26 Goal of the Week

Cologne - It may not have been enough to secure Hannover 96 a share of the spoils in a 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund, but the defeat didn't prevent Lars Stindl's stunning second from topping the bundesliga.com users poll after Matchday 26.

The Hannover 96 captain levelled the scores in the 31st minute with a tidy close-range finish before finding the top right-hand corner with a crisp strike that set up a nervy end to the encounter and saw him collect 40 per cent of the votes.

Postage-stamp strike

Stindl has now set a new personal single-season best in terms of goalscoring with six goals to his name in 2014/15, although none of the four games in which he has scored have ended in a Hannover victory. The same cannot be said of runner-up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who matched Stindl by bagging a brace at the HDI Arena, receiving 30 per cent of the ballot for his second effort - a delightful diving header from Shinji Kagawa's outrageous outside-of-the-boot delivery into the danger area.

VfB Stuttgart's Daniel Ginczek took the final podium place with 14 per cent of the vote for his second of the game against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena. The 23-year-old put the finishing touches on a superb team move that came courtesy of Alexandru Maxim producing one of the assists of the season (see below) in a 3-1 triumph at home to Thomas Schaaf's side.

Just two per cent off the 21-year-old's effort was Karim Bellarabi's near-post rocket that found the roof of the net in Bayer 04 Leverkusen's 1-0 win over FC Schalke 04, while two-goal hero Raffael's second in the win over FC Bayern München only picked up two per cent in total.
