Augsburg - As if losing 2-0 away to SC Freiburg on Matchday 26 wasn't enough for FC Augsburg, salt has been rubbed into the wound with news that a trio of players sustained injuries in the match and will now be sidelined.

Weinzierl: 'Injuries have hit us hard'

Left-back , central midfielder and centre-back are the affected players, although the severity of their respective injuries varies.

Baba damaged ligaments in a big toe during the game and has subsequently been forced to pull out of Ghana's upcoming friendlies against Senegal and Mali. A definite time frame has not been set for the 20-year-old's return, but he is expected to be out of action for a number of weeks. Höjbjerg likewise withdrew from international duty due to ankle trouble, although the Dane should be able to feature once the Bundesliga resumes in April.

Callsen-Bracker was the worst affected of the three after injuring ankle ligaments in a challenge, meaning he is unlikely to play again this season. "The injuries have hit us hard, especially as they've all come at the same time," said coach Markus Weinzierl. "But we haven't complained about injuries before and we're not going to now. We'll compensate for their absences as a team."
