Gelsenkirchen - FC Schalke 04 have received a major boost on the personnel front after both Julian Draxler and Jefferson Farfan stepped up their comebacks from long-term injuries on Thursday.

Good week continues

Draxler, who has been out of action since the end of October with a hamstring injury, emerged unscathed from an intensive training session, while Farfan trained lightly with his team-mates for the first time this calendar year after undergoing surgery to repair damaged cartilage in his right knee.

News of the duo's impending returns is a further bonus in what is turning out to be a good week for Roberto Di Matteo's side. Despite being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League, the Italian's charges made headlines across the globe with a stunning 4-3 win away at ten-time European champions and current holders Real Madrid CF on Tuesday.

The following day, the club was then able to confirm the permanent signing of on-loan Serbian defender Matija Nastasic from Manchester City FC. The Gelsenkirchen club are back in action this weekend with a trip to the capital to face Hertha Berlin on Matchday 25.
