Augsburg - FC Augsburg forward Raul Bobadilla has received his first international call-up after being named in the Paraguay squad for their upcoming friendlies against Costa Rica and Mexico at the end of the month.

Bobadilla was born and raised in Argentina but qualifies for Paraguay via his grandmother and recently told bundesliga.com of his desire to represent La Albirroja at international level.

Bobadilla 'very grateful'

"I'm happy to have received my first call-up and I'm very grateful to Augsburg and my team-mates," said the former Borussia Mönchengladbach man. "Without our fantastic development this season, this wouldn't have been possible."

Bobadilla has played a key role in Augsburg's charge up the Bundesliga table this season, scoring seven goals in 23 league appearances despite being deployed in a wider role by head coach Markus Weinzierl in recent weeks.

Paraguay face Costa Rica on 27 March before travelling to Mexico to face El Tri four days later.
