Cologne - Hamburger SV midfielder Zoltan Stieber has romped to victory in the Matchday 22 Goal of the Week vote, earning a massive 87 per cent of bundesliga.com users’ votes for his strike against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday afternoon.

Quartet in Stieber’s wake

The 26-year-old Hungarian international curled home a sublime finish to open the scoring against the Foals, only for Branimir Hrgota’s stoppage-time header to prevent HSV from taking all three points.

In a one-sided poll, FC Augsburg goalkeeper came second with just seven per cent of the post-matchday vote for his late equaliser in die Fuggerstädter’s 2-2 draw with Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The 27-year-old stopper slammed home the leveller deep into second-half stoppage time to become only the third keeper in Bundesliga history to score from open play.

In joint-third were FC Bayern München youngster Mitchell Weiser and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim forward Kevin Volland. Weiser’s exquisite lob over SC Paderborn 07 keeper Lukas Kruse - Bayern’s fifth at the Benteler-Arena on Saturday - received only three per cent of the vote, as did Volland’s thunderous drive in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with SC Freiburg. 1. FSV Mainz 05 forward Yunus Malli came fourth with zero per cent, despite his fine strike in Mainz’s 3-1 win over local rivals Eintracht Frankfurt.
