Hamburg's Diaz sidelined for two months

Hamburg - Hamburger SV will be without the services of midfielder for up to eight weeks after the Chilean injured his knee in training.

The 28-year-old only joined the club in the winter transfer window from Swiss champions FC Basel, but now faces a lengthy spell in the treatment room after taking a knock to his knee, which was subsequently diagnosed with ligament damage. Hamburg are already without Lewis Holtby, Valon Behrami, Dennis Diekmeier, Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Cleber, although the latter quartet are all approaching full fitness again following injuries of their own. HSV announced the news of Diaz's absence on their official Twitter account on Friday evening:

"After receiving a blow to his knee in training, Diaz will be out for approximately eight weeks with a ligament tear."
