Munich - FC Bayern München midfielder is on his way back to the Bavarian capital after spending the winter months recovering from a third round of knee ligament surgery in Catalonia, Spain.
Beset by injury
The 23-year-old Spain international thanked "everyone who's helped me these last few months" on his official Twitter account, before signing off by saying, "Back to Munich!"
Thiago sustained serious knee ligament damage during Bayern's 3-3 draw with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in March 2014, before suffering a recurrence of the injury in May that ruled him out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He returned to team training in October 2014, only to partially tear the medial collateral ligament in his right knee. It is not yet known when the former FC Barcelona star, who joined the record German champions in summer 2013, will return to first-team action, although Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has intimated it could be before the end of the current campaign.
